Was Apple Fair ?

Believe it or not, I actually agree with Apple. Sure employees have their right to privacy however when they impact a company negatively the private becomes more of a public issue. The company had to do what was in their best interest, which was let the employee go. Of course, it would have been nice for them to give the employee a warning it is still ultimately left in the hands of the employer. Personally as the employee I would use it as a learning expeirence, when you work for a large company you need to realize they will not stop until they have ensured that nothing is standing in the way of image or profit. And as an employee I probably would have acted in the same manner, Apple has a image to uphold and the employee was acting as a liability versus an asset. Sorry to admit it, but to me Apple acted quite appropriately. If it didnt directly involve the company that would be a different story.

  1. I think firing the employee was a good way to set the tone for other employees. I know if I worked for Apple, I would definitely learn from the other guy's experience to not make any type of comment about Apple on the internet. With such a huge corporation, it would be way too difficult to monitor every employee's Facebook page. By catching one person and taking appropriate action, i think it shows a lesson to all employees.

  2. The comment the employee made most definitely directly impacted the morality of the company, therefore what they did was correct in firing this employee.
